July flew by pretty fast.
It was like it was July 4th. We saw fireworks, and then boom, here comes August.
Before July is officially over, I want to share a few things that I learned or thought about this month about learning, prayer, and reading (books).
Learning:
I enrolled in an online 8-week leadership class offered through Troy University. It has been a while since I last took a college course. I decided to enroll in the class for a couple of reasons: it has been a while since I have been in a leadership role professionally, and I wanted to see if and how leadership has changed over the past 5 years. The class is free of charge and from an accredited university (I like free).
I found out about the class while I was dumb-scrolling the Facebook. I thought it was fake news, but it is the real deal.
I am enjoying the class, but I also can not wait until it is over. I am no longer a good student like I was when I was younger. Thankfully, classwork is due each Sunday. I am getting it done, but I have to talk myself into it weekly. I have impressed myself. I am still an A student. I have learned that I truly will be a lifetime student (I love to learn about too many things), but my learning style is more of a no-due date curriculum. My final assessment is in 2 weeks, and I will let y’all know how I do.
Prayer:
I try to make prayer part of my daily routine. Some days the prayers are longer than others, some days the prayers have more purpose, and some days the prayers are ramblings with a few words that I know Jesus is not pleased with. I truly believe that if you are feeling it, you need to be honest with Jesus because, hey, he already knows it is in your heart.
This month I prayed through Beth Moore’s "31 Days of Prayer". This is the third or fourth time I have done this. Each time I have prayed for a specific person, and it has been powerful. What I am finding is that each time I do a deep dive into prayer like this, I learn more about myself and how I handle situations. If your prayer life has been a bit ugh or you just want to go a bit deeper into scripture, definitely check out the "31 Days of Prayer".
Reading and Books:
I currently have 12 books that I want to start reading or finish reading. My Good Reads goal is not even going to be met this year. A goal I have for August is to dive into these books. Maybe I will share a few of them with you all as I finish them up. I will not buy any more books until these books are finished! (I am trying hard to convince myself).
How was your July?
What is something you learned this month?
Here’s to an AWESOME August filled with moments of happiness.
One more thing:
August is "Happiness Happens Month."
Happiness is a choice. Remember, happiness does not mean you are problem-free. That kind of life doesn’t exist.—unknown
I love the 31 days of prayer! That’s so interesting. My July was really good! I’m hoping to continue on the reading path I’m on. I hope you have an awesome August!
Keep on challenging yourself. Love it!♥️
