Happy Monday 🌊
I hope you are doing well, It is 5:30 AM and I am up waiting for the sun rise. I am at the beach for a few days and I got up early so I could catch the sunrise have my quiet time, my prayer time while listening to the waves.
I hadn’t really planned on writing anything this week because this is supposed to be a much needed rest/recharge week for me but as I am sitting here in awe of how calming the sounds of ocean waves are I wanted to share with you all the importance of finding some rest time.
These last few months I’ve being going non-stop, there is always something to do. My to-do and want to-do list are a mile long usually.
I knew I needed a rest when about two weeks ago I caught an attitude when corresponding with one of the nicest colleagues I have 😫. I apologized the next day and he said “I get it, no need to apologize”.
So I decided that since I had to be down by the beach for my daughter’s volleyball tournament and she joined friends for their senior week at the beach after her tournament (her school teammates that she started off with as a team manager with in 6th grade and then became teammates with in high school invited her along to their senior get away) So my mama heart is a bit nervous but I decided to stay at the beach too just away from any teens 😉.
Anywho let me get back on track- I’ve had no coffee yet hence the rambling…
The point I’m trying to make is that even if you can’t pack up and get away PLEASE make time to rest your mind. Find events close to home that bring you joy, look for discounted trips, join a group event where folks in your area get together and do things in groups. But do something for YOU
I’ve gotten better at making GUILT free me time or we time with my hubby these past few years and it’s been great for my mental wellness.
My plan today is to get under my beach umbrella and nap, read and snack. My husband will spend the entire day in the ocean swimming until he’s exhausted.
Also the 3 nights I’ve been here so far I’ve had no 3am wake ups- for those of you dealing with perimenopause I’m sure you know what the 3am wake up is - just awake for no good reason 😫
