Angry Prayers, Calm And My New Favorite App~ Endel (you can get a free trial to the app)
Angry Prayers…
Angry because grief pops up at the strangest times...
Like when I was at CVS in line checking out and I saw one of my mama's favorite candies, "Easter egg whoppers," and I got choked up. The cashier was so concerned for me, and I kept telling her, "I am fine," but I wasn't able to get the words completely out.
How the heck did seeing those candies make me so sad?
I grabbed 2 boxes of those Easter whoppers and added them to my purchases, and when I got to my car, I texted my sister, and we both agreed that mama would be so upset at us for crying and was probably shouting down from heaven, "Cut all that crying out."
Angry prayers because our world is so broken... I do not have the capacity to even expand on this right now, but we all know the chaos we are in.
I am so so GRATEFUL that I am not afraid to be 100% honest when I pray. Sometimes those prayers may not include beautiful biblical words, and that is perfectly fine. When I was younger, I was afraid of being 100% honest in my prayers—that was a fear thing.
There is no one way to pray; prayer is NOT one size fits all. Sometimes prayer is one word or many words.
Prayer and quiet help me find calm.
Finding calm is something I have to do, and I am intentional about doing so. That intention sometimes comes with guilt because, as I tell my therapist, I have a lot of things to do and a busy family, and she always reminds me that if I am amped up and stressed, I am not helping anyone. She is right, but I still give her an eye roll or three.
To keep my mind and spirit calm, I walk and listen to music, and lately, I have been using an app called "Endel".
Endel is an app with personalized soundscapes to help you focus, relax, and sleep.
I use Endel during the workday to stay focused on projects because Lord knows how easy it is for me to look at my phone and get distracted. I do not really know how to explain Endel but it works.
I was gifted a subscription, and after I tried it out, I reached out to the folks at Endel and asked if at all possible could I get a code to give out, and they were generous. So if you’d like to try Endel out, you can do so for one month free of charge with no catch at all.
Download the app or go to the Endel website and use this code: lhoover or just click here: https://code.endel.io/?code=lhoover
There are up to 300 activations available, so there are plenty.
Let me know if you try it out.
Have a great rest of the week and please be a light to those around you.
love your honest and open words... thanks for sharing.
I’ve never heard of Endel! I’ll have to check it out! Great blog post!
