The busyness of May never surprises me but I am always glad when the month of May winds down.
When my kids were in elementary school I could count on May for end of the year projects, events and making sure they got enough rest for end of year academic testing. For a few years I was heavily involved in the PTA and so I was at the school non-stop in May.
I am glad that phase has passed. But still you need to make sure teens get rest for those darn academic tests and this year honetly I was like “Lord be with the children” LOL. I was so ready for school to be OUT.
May surprisingly with all the busyness has also been a time for me to relax, regroup and rejuvenate.
This month I have been INTENTIONAL about finding time to rest.
I am relaxing with a daily nap or sitting still time- I see now why in some other countires siesta’s are recommended. And since I work remotely with a very flexible schedule this is possible and I KNOW this is a privillege.
Being mindful of how much time I am on my phone dumb scrolling is helping me to regroup. Do not get me wrong I love the internets and watching reels and tiktoks but for me when I looked at my usage on certain apps I decided I have to do a little better and have been trying to cut back.
I have a friend who does “phoneless Fridays” she puts her phone down all day on Friday! I am not there quite yet and may never get there but I admire her for doing this.
Helping others by being a support for them as they take on new adventures and challenges has also been a way for me to rejuvenate. I have a few friends who have some exciting things going on in there lives and cheering them on is so FUN.
May is also Mental Health Awareness month and I encourage everyone to check in on your mental wellness and if you feel you need any assistance reach out to someone. And lets do a better job of letting people know that we are there for them if they feel they need help with their mental wellness. The negative stigma around seeking help for mental wellness needs to be stopped. There is no shame at all in seeking help.
If you need resources for yourself or someone you love check out NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
Have a great week!
Your support and cheering is greatly appreciated!!
I need a daily phone less moment lol!! Great work ❤️
