In response to grieving my mom - earlier this year, my therapist encouraged me to write a letter to my mom. And I wrote 5 pages. I was surprised at how much I realized I wanted to say to her, but I don't have the chance to tell her. I've shared in my writing before that I had a complicated relationship with my mom, and I have mommy hurt, instead of daddy hurt, but it's something I'm working through. So, Mother's Day is a bittersweet day for me.

Sending you a BIG hug. I love the writing a letter to get those feelings and thoughts out. One thing grief has taught me is that even if a person isn’t here anymore it’s important for us to get the feelings, thoughts and emotions out. I know it’ll be a bittersweet weekend for you but I do hope in the midst that you’ll be able to find some comfort and a small good memory to hold onto. If not remember the 5 page letter and the release that gave you. ❤️🙏🏾

The job of a mother is never done, but we do get to see glimpses of our labor from the moment our little ones enter this world. There are good days, in between days, days we wish we could do over but each day is a day to show and experience love. As moms we are usually tough on ourselves and do not extend ourselves enough grace. The fact that we care, lose sleep, worry and beam with pride all at the same time is fascinating. The best advice I can give a mom is this: pray, laugh, enjoy each moment and do NOT jump on the comparison train. Your motherhood journey is YOUR journey. 💚

I used to journal so much more than I do now. I like this idea. My relationship with my mom is strained but I still love her. hope we can amend things soon.
